Each registered domain name has a minimum of two Name Server records which show where it's hosted i.e. by using these records you point your Internet domain to the servers of a certain website hosting provider. In this way, you've got both your site and your emails handled by the same provider. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), however, there are a number of other records, such as A and MX. The first one shows which server handles the site for a given Internet domain and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the second one reveals which server manages the emails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). As an illustration, any time you type a domain name in your browser, your request is directed through the global DNS system to the provider whose NS records the domain name uses and from there you may be sent to the servers of a different service provider in case you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your domain address. Having independent records for the website and the e-mails means that you can have your site and your e-mails with 2 different companies if you'd like.

Custom MX and A Records in Shared Hosting

With a shared hosting plan from our company, you're going to be able to set up or change the A and MX records of your domain addresses and subdomains easily using our sophisticated Hepsia hosting Control Panel. Changing the default records takes two clicks and the creation of a new record requires just a couple of more clicks, so even if you have never dealt with such matters, you won't experience any complications. We also have a large help section that'll make things even easier. If you want to switch your e-mail provider and you have to set up a number of MX records in addition to the standard 2, you can choose their priority i.e. which record is going to deal with your e-mails first when someone sends you a message. Normally the new provider will tell you what these values should be. With our shared plans, you're going to have full control of your domain names and subdomains and you're going to be able to manage their A and MX records effortlessly and at any time.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

With the Linux semi-dedicated servers that we provide, you will have complete control over the records of all domain addresses and subdomains that you add in your hosting account. You can easily check what A and MX records every one of them has using the DNS Records section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel and modifying any record takes just a few clicks. If you choose to switch your web or e-mail hosting provider, you can change the necessary record and point your domain to the other service provider for one of the services, as you still keep using the other one through us. You can also keep the main domain address here, while you edit the A record of only one of its subdomains. When you're editing the MX records and you need additional ones on top of the standard two that we have, you could create them with ease and set a different priority for every one.
