SPF, which is short for Sender Policy Framework, is an e-mail security system, which is employed to confirm whether an e-mail message was sent by a licensed server. Using SPF protection for a domain name will prevent the faking of email addresses created with the domain. In layman's terms: activating this feature for a domain name generates a special record in the Domain Name System (DNS) containing the IP of the servers which are allowed to send email messages from mail boxes under the domain. As soon as this record propagates worldwide, it exists on all of the DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. When some email message is sent, the first DNS server it goes through tests whether it originates from an authorized server. In the event it does, it is forwarded to the destination address, yet when it doesn't originate from a server part of the SPF record for the particular domain, it is discarded. In this way nobody will be able to mask an email address and make it appear as if you are sending spam messages. This technique is also referred to as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Shared Hosting

You'll be able to enable the SPF protection option for your domain names with a few clicks in the Hepsia Control Panel, which is provided with our Linux shared hosting. This is done from the section with the same name and you'll be able to allow the protection for each domain name part of our advanced cloud hosting platform. Using a really simple interface, all you need to enter is the hostname of the mail server that will be accredited to send messages from your email addresses and its IPv4 or IPv6 address. Of course, you can include several servers as well, if needed. If your email addresses are taken care of by us, you may also employ an even more risk-free option by setting a restriction that e-mail messages can be sent only if your domain names include our MX records. This alternative can't be applied when your web site is hosted with us, and the e-mail addresses are with some third-party supplier. In either case, the SPF protection option can vastly increase your online safety and prevent other people from counterfeiting your email addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The SPF protection feature is provided with all the Linux semi-dedicated servers, so in case you host your domains in an account on our cloud hosting platform, you can activate this particular service easily for all of your domains. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes as standard with the semi-dedicated accounts, has a very easy to use interface, so you do not have to be proficient in the use of computers in order to protected your e-mail addresses. You will simply need to type the hostname and the IP address of each mail server that you would like to be certified to send out emails from your addresses and immediately after that the new record will be activated for the domain name that you have selected. As an additional option, we'll also give you the ability to restrict your outgoing emails and protect your mailboxes further by allowing email messages to be sent only when the domain name involved contains our MX records i.e. the e-mail messages for the domain have to be taken care of on our end and not by another provider. In this way you'll get even better control and there will not be any chance for any person to counterfeit your email addresses for malicious activities.
